Sports Desk, New Delhi. Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haq gave Pakistan a steady start in the Champions Trophy-2025 match being played against India at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday.
However, this start could not turn into a big partnership and the reason for this was Hardik Pandya. Pandya dismissed Babar Azam and then teased him too.
Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan won the toss in the match against India and decided to bat first. Pakistan made one change in their playing-11. Imam-ul-Haq was given a chance in place of injured Fakhar Zaman.
Pandya got the wicket
Imam and Babar added 41 runs for the first wicket. This partnership seemed to be flourishing. Then Pandya dismissed Babar Azam on the second ball of the ninth over. Pandya’s ball came out and took the edge of Babar’s bat and went into the hands of wicketkeeper KL Rahul. With this, India got the first wicket.
After getting out, Pandya said goodbye to Babar Azam and he just kept watching. Pandya said bye-bye to Babar with a big attitude. Babar got angry seeing this, but he just kept watching and returned to the pavilion with his head bowed quietly. Babar scored 23 runs with the help of five fours in 26 balls.
Imam also out cheaply
Imam’s batting was also not going well. There was pressure on him and that is why he made a mistake in haste. He tried to take a run on Kuldeep Yadav’s ball and ran away playing the ball towards mid-on. Akshar Patel standing there did a great job and threw it straight on the stump. With this, Imam also returned to the pavilion. Imam faced 26 balls and scored only 10 runs.
After this, Rizwan and Saud Shakeel took charge of the team, but they could not score runs quickly. The Indian bowlers tightened the noose around both of them and did not let them free their hands.
